On Thursday, we highlighted fashion trends for the fall/winter season 2014-2015, based on some of the hottest venues around the world. Of course, fashion trends and jewelry trends always seem to go hand in hand.

And, while JCK Online predicted the trends to be more "restrained" for the Fall/Winter season, Vogue Paris has their own predictions on the radar. Bold, statement earrings...but, wait! Is that one earring only? Yes, if you take a look through their pictures that boast the runway-inspired fashions of the upcoming season, you will see the one, long earring style at Celine, Louis Vuitton and Balmain.

Chloe offered a look at fringed bracelets crafted of soft leathers. And, the alligator skin cuff bracelets that were found at the Fendi show and the leather collars at Louis Vuitton emphasized how leather would make an appearance as a top clothing, accessory and jewelry item this Fall/Winter.

Before we look at the jewelry trends for the Fall/Winter season of 2014-2015, it's important to take a peek at the fashion trends of the upcoming season. Where to look?

For starters, let's take a look at what JCK Online said in their Fall Trends feature. Gathered from Mochino to Chanel to Prada, the one fashion that seemed to remain consistent was the thick, oversized and even puffy quilted fashions. However, despite the clothing trends being big and cozy, unique statement pieces that are not so huge seemed to be the jewelry trend.

According to JCK Online, the jewelry trend seems to be heading toward a more restrained and subtle, delicate style for the Fall and Winter. This falls right in line with women who are interested in purchasing a new piece of custom made jewelry for the Fall or Winter this year.

Bold and big jewelry pieces were the trend for a seemingly long while in the fashion world, and while big and bold is still the mantra for clothing this upcoming season, it seems that more toned-down jewelry is the trend to look forward to.

2011 Tucson Gem and Mineral Show

If you are a jewelry lover, you may want to think about attending some of the shows and expeditions around the world. Jewelers and gem fans alike are looking forward to the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show in February 2015.

This will be the 61st annual show hosted in February from the 12th to the 15th, and the title of the exhibition is "Minerals of Western Europe". And, it probably shouldn't be called an exhibition, as much as it should be called a  marketplace, as both buyers and sellers unite at nearly 50 different locations around Tucson, including hotels and resorts, exhibit halls, under tents, and even in the confines of private hotel rooms.

This show is known to stimulate the Tucson economy each winter, bringing in over $100 million across the different avenues and shows. If you haven't yet made it to Tucson to check out this annual gem and mineral show, you may just want to try it one year!

Here's a question for you to ponder: Would you prefer to be wearing jewelry that you bought from a well-known jewelry (you know the name brands) or a piece that is crafted by a jeweler who doesn't yet have that stand-out, everybody-knows-them name?

The only catch is that the two pieces of jewelry would be distinctively different. The well-known piece of jewelry would be boring, while the piece of jewelry by the unknown, yet talented jeweler would be a stunning piece of work.

Of course, the question may seem shallow, but not many people seem to think about this difference when they go out to purchase a new piece of jewelry. Most people think about the big, name brand jewelers when they are in the market to purchase a new piece of jewelry. They walk into the store, look over the inventory, and then select which piece they love the most.

When you deal with a more unknown jeweler, you can take a peek at pictures of other pieces of jewelry they have crafted for customer. They may even have a selection of jewelry to choose from that is already handcrafted, however, you also will have the choice of putting your two cents in before your custom piece is made.
