Men’s Jewelry is not something that is new, or even recent. Men have been wearing jewelry since ancient times. Than jewelry was considered a show of wealth, strength, and respect. Today many men still wear jewelery for the same reasons, depending on their style.
You may see men wearing leather bracelets with studs attached, or heavy necklaces with very large pendants. Other men may wear onyx or diamond rings, other than their wedding bands, it is all a matter of personal preference.
Early Men’s Jewelry
The earliest forms of jewelry for men and women were made from shells, and found in Africa. Adornments made of made of teeth, stone and bones have been found from early humans in Europe, and most people know that Egyptians were the first humans to create fine men’s jewelry out of gold for men’s necklaces, pendants, and rings, that went with them to their graves.
Artistic Men’s Jewelry
We can thank the Egyptians for laying the foundation for creative fine men’s jewelry, after which jewelry can found in Greece with gems and gold. In Rome the males from early civilizations wore mostly men’s rings and during the Middle Ages signet men’s rings were commonplace. Throughout the Renaissance Period men’s jewelry became even more popular.
