Missing Earring Recreated

One day a man came into BC Custom Jewelry with one beautiful earring explaining that his wife was devastated that she lost the other one. The old pair of earrings were a gift from her grandmother who lived in Italy and gave them to her on her wedding day. She assumed that because they were custom made in Italy that she would never again be able to wear her grandmothers gift, and they meant so much to her.

The man proceeded to explain the situation and the fact that he didn’t expect much but wanted to know if our Artisan jewelry, Brian, could do anything. Brian explained to him that he could recreate the custom earring to match exactly and that he would clean and polish the old one to make it look new again.

This is something that good custom jewelers can do, recreate and match another item exactly. Brian made a mold from the old earring and proceeded to work his magic and recreate the missing earring.

Because the original was hand-made there are normally some inconsistencies but this adds to the fact that the pieces are original hand-made items. Brian made the new earring the same way the older one was made and it came out beautifully.

When the earrings were finished the man came in to see it with his wife. She actually cried when she found out what her husband had done for her, and when she saw what a beautiful job Brian had done recreating her missing earring.

This is what Brian loves to do create custom jewelry that brings a smile to your face or a tear to your eye.

Custom Jewelry Made Just for You

Brian, our artisan jeweler, has a way of making custom jewelry that is unique and made to fit you. If you have an old piece of jewelry that you want made new again, or you want to start fresh, Brian will ask questions about the recipient of the piece. This is important because he can design anything you want to fit the individual personality of the receiver.

If the person who is going to wear the piece is outgoing and loves showy pieces of jewelry Brian will make sure that the piece he is working on will fit the style the owner loves. Just as if the person is modest and quiet, Brian will make a piece that is more reserved.

As an example, one day a woman walked into Brian’s shop with a beautiful old European cut diamond that was a family heirloom ring. The woman wanted the diamond reset in a custom piece of jewelry that would fit her better than the old European style.

Brian asked her some questions and got a feel for the type of person the woman was, he immediately felt that she was a strong, stylish person who was lively and upbeat.

He suggested changing the band and adding two radiant cut diamonds of a yellow color on each side to make this a custom ring that would fit the personality of the woman who brought the ring in. The two radiant cut diamonds were square shape, while the old European diamond was round, this new style reflected the strength that Brian saw in the woman.

The cut of a diamond does not refer to the shape but rather the, proportioning, symmetry and polishing. This greatly influences the diamond’s brilliance and luminosity not matter what the shape is.

Brian takes all of this into consideration when he is designing a custom piece of jewelry for anyone. Unless you have a specific idea of how you want your custom piece of jewelry to look when it is complete, Brian will be able to help you design one that will suit you perfectly.
